My thoughts on the CNY Regional Market

I participated as a vendor at the CNY Regional Market Saturday and thought I would share about the experience.

As a resident of Central New York and food lover, I do not get to the Regional Market nearly as often as I would like. Between developing recipes and baking on the business side and 4 children, a house to maintain, errands to run and the opportunity to sleep in a little on the personal side; by the time I am ready to head out, the market is over or close to it!

Though the 5 am wake-up time went from intimidating on Friday to exhaustion on Saturday afternoon, I am excited and ready to do it again! There was something really exhilarating about the buzz the market had as the people started to come through and it got busy. I observed people who appeared to be on a mission and knew exactly where they were going and what they wanted and others who were sauntering along and taking everything in.

I met and spoke with some great people. I met local residents as well as people from out of town (Ithaca, PA, W. VA). One group of women was three generations of family. The oldest woman lives in Camillus, her daughter grew up in Camillus and now lives in PA with her family, including her college age daughter who was with them. Their grandson/nephew went to school with my daughter. Small world! A guy who attends college in Ithaca stopped by and bought some cookies. A man that I have exchanged recipes and discussed food with at the Apple Store in Destiny USA, where he works was there with his wife after dropping off a friend who was traveling out of town.

The support and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. I was sold out by Noon, which was extraordinary! Due to that, I was able to walk around the market and support some local vendors as well. Bringing home some Good Nature Brewing Limited Edition Razz-Bretty Porter and American Brown Ale, fresh produce  and R&G Cheesemakers Garlic & Herb Goat Cheese.

The Regional Market was an experience that I am looking forward to again this weekend! It was invigorating and though I was exhausted by the time that I got home (I still had to do a delivery for an order placed for a private party), I also felt good inside because the support and interaction with people was so pleasant.

Please stop by, introduce yourself and try some Avocadough next weekend. I look forward to meeting you!

Here is what I brought home:
